October 10, 2001 The 20th Century Daily Bread Armed to the Teeth Photo Diary E-Arcades Writing Teaching Resume
To start the year off right, I went out side to take a few photographs after midnight. The new snow was beautiful. The night sky turned into hot chocolate.
The warmth of the late afternooon light as it rakes across our block on a January afternoon makes me feel hopeful that winter will end.
I envy my daughter's ability to have a great time with a paper bag and a cupcake and a few good friends of course.
Alone and awake at midnight, listening to the mice.
Mei Ling is very brave about wearing her eye patch. Sometimes it is even fun.
A thin line of sunlight comes in the back of the apartment for a few minutes on winter mornings. It briefly slices all the way to the living room.
There are still remnants of the old Park Slope on 5th Avenue.
At home.
Mei Ling and I went to the Aquarium. I took several photos of her dutifully standing on the boardwalk for the camera. She was underexposed compared to the water. I used the on-camera flash to fill in her face as we started to chase each other.
At home, wrapping a present.
The light coming down into the subway felt symbolic. Although I go through this station almost everyday, I almost never am there in the early afternoon when the light comes down the stairwell illuminating regions I expct to be dark.
